1) Checklists

Studies show the best way to document your dreams and goals is in short checklists with priority lists and writing it all down. You may want to categorize what is a top priority, set short-term goals on which tasks to tackle first, and then prepare your mental and physical state of being to cross out the list until everything comes together.

2) Leadership skills

Read, study, and practice all acquired knowledge of leadership skills.

If you want to be the boss of your successful company someday, change how you impact your future employees, and produce effective results with great teamwork, I must say learning about this versatile skill early on in life can change your entire outlook on life to be more positive.

Leadership skills and finding the right mentors will impact your career, personal and workplace development, and successful customer interaction would be a top priority combination for success. There are so many free resources and business mentors out there ready to welcome you to learn how to be the best entrepreneur you can be.

Not to mention, for those that love to read, the local bookstores and Amazon have excellent well-written e-books and novels you can read from top famous leaders of the nation. But first, browse websites such as Forbes and Entrepreneur if you cannot get your hands directly onto the magazine issues. Take a leadership class if it is offered by your college career center or within the college curriculum. Follow TED talks regularly, watch ABC’s Shark Tank, and of course, take advantage of business courses, read informative business articles, and brainstorm what you think the market or your industry will need from you in the near future.

Furthermore, great resources include your college’s library, the bookstore, and the learning sections of each academic department you are currently wanting to specialize in.

3) Networking

Networking is extremely important while you are in school. Getting involved locally around your neighborhood and within professional organizations while you are studying is a great place to start meeting new colleagues and potential business partners and future customers.

Check out business training and career development seminars and plan to participate in a business competition.

4) Research and Notes

Do your research and constantly take notes, share your thoughts whether it be with a circle of support or with your personal diary, and pick one task to break it down and tackle it one at a time. You’ll be so glad once you work at these three steps toward business building and repeat all three of them on a daily basis.

5) Weekly Meetups/Virtual Training

Prepare to take notes daily with your business mentor or when you attend a business networking group during new discussions and topics that they cover based on your future business plan and things you need to learn. There are many weekly meetups and virtual training to take advantage of as well as customer support lines to call.

A great resource to start tuning into is OWN IT or listening to informative podcasts regularly. By tuning in on occasion to both, they have helped me understand lots of tasks that daily business owners undergo from important business documents to budgeting. They have daily engaging emails that support you too, should you choose to subscribe to the newsletters and attend the weekly live chats.

6) Apps

Technology applications for on-the-go planners and for personal use are popular in business. I keep hearing in the news that staying sincerely engaged and focused on your financial budgeting path includes the highly popular Mint.com for mobile application.

Another great mobile tool is Evernote.com. It is a great virtual tool to organize your thoughts, notes, and it usually comes in handy while you’re in the planning and studying stages. To learn about marketing your business, you ought to check into the webcasts at the bottom of the American Marketing Association page and browse. It will be highly beneficial to know how to market your product(s) and brand within today’s influential social media outlets.

I hope you have some snacks around as you vigorously figure out the early planning stages of your future business this February. If a lot of businesses skyrocketed while the boss was attending college, set your mindset to know you can too have the same amount of success, even after you graduate and walk into the real world!
