To start the day off, the Vandals took on the Wyoming Cowgirls. The Vandals won five events during the course of the meet. Although some events did not go the way they wanted, head coach Mark Sowa commented at the end of the meet saying how they had some good opportunities and missed some others. He also said that his athletes haven’t “backed down from anything” and “this stuff is going to pay off down the stretch.” Sowa is hopeful for the season down the line because of this promising season opening.

In other sports news, the women’s volleyball team beat Montana State in a 3-1 set game. The Vandals started off strong with a win 25-16, then led to tight scores of 25-21, 28-26. These sets kept the audience on the edge of their seats. Both teams played very well and made for an exciting event for the Vandal fans. In the fourth set, the audience was in anticipation waiting to see if the Vandals could hold off Montana for the win. Fortunately, they won their fourth set 25-20. Needless to say, there was much celebration after those sets. This week, the Vandals are traveling to Arizona to play the University of Arizona Lumberjacks on Thursday. The Vandals will return to Moscow on Saturday. The Vandals’ final home game of the season will be Saturday, November 17, at 7 p.m. This will be their senior day and there are five seniors that are being celebrated.

Finally, on Saturday, the Vandals took on the Montana Grizzlies for their senior day. With seven seniors, the Vandals were hopeful for a win. However, the game started out very slow for the Vandals but the audience was still excited and engaged throughout the game. They tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter but they fell short. They ultimately lost 27-46.

Those were the scores for the Vandal games from this weekend. Each game was full of Vandal fans. All the games were at different times so many fans were able to go to all events. This shows the loyalty of the Vandal fans.
